The Stepping Out Walk Leaders get to grips with all terrain Buggies.

On the 8th of November seven walk leaders and representatives from Ribble Valley Shopmobility and Age Concern held a training day on the new Tramper vehicles,
(Off-road powered wheelchairs) at Stocks reservoir. These vehicles have been used on Stepping Out walks to encourage people into the countryside who have limited mobility.
David Padley from the Lancashire County Council Countryside Service provided the training on both the Tramper and the TGA vehicles.
The reason for the training was to become familiar with the machines and their capability over rough terrain, so that volunteers can support people attending our Tramper walks.
These are walks that include Trampers; the routes have been assessed as suitable for these all terrain vehicles and are led in conjunction with Simon O’Rourke at Ribble Valley Shopmobility.

‘I thought Dave's training was good; explanations clear, encouraging and helpful support for individuals. It was an enlightening experience.  More difficult (scary even) than I thought it would be because of the muddy terrain we were on and the incline.’
